Michaelmas 2010

18th November (Thursday 6th Week) - Sebastian Cody: 'Reality TV, Truth and Fiction'

Magdalen College 7.30pm Old Law Library

Sebastian Cody runs the independent production company Open Media, which
has made hundreds of hours of television for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.

After graduating from the National Film & TV School in Beaconsfield he worked
in Los Angeles before setting up Open Media.

Earlier this year the industry magazine Broadcast wrote: "Sebastian is one of TV's great innovators.

His ‘After Dark’ defined the first 10 years of Channel 4, just as Big Brother did
the second." He is an
Associate Fellow of the Rothermere American Institute
at Oxford.

Have a look at the references in this link: http://www.openmedia.co.uk/

This would be perfect for those interested in the future of television broadcasting, science and the media and those looking to learn about routes into film production.

FILM CUPPERS LAUNCH @ BABYLOVE!  MONDAY 6th WEEK (15th November)

8.30pm £3 entry

That’s right! Come down to the hippest joint in town for a night of mingling, dancing, and general hilarity. This is a great opportunity for you to network and meet other like-minded people to make your Film Cuppers entry with. These will be screened in our prestigious Film Festival in Hilary Term, so it’s never too early to get started...

It will be a great night, hope to see lots of you there!

THIS TERMS BIG PROJECT: ONE MINUTE SHORT COMPETITION
"Chasing the Light"

This term we will be running a competition for the production of a one minute short, following the theme “Chasing The Light”. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get together with some like-minded people and produce a starter project or maybe just something you've had running through your mind for a while. The theme is pretty loosy goosy so don't feel like you have to reign yourself in. Run wild, etc.

All shorts should be submitted to the OUFF by Monday of 1st week, Hilary Term 2011 and we'll be showing the winning shorts at a delightful screening in 8th.

Don't have a camera? Sign up on the OUFF website to use ours for just £15 annual subscription. It's beautiful and huge and we'll be happy to teach you how to use it if you have absolutely no idea, like me.

Don't have a team? Check out the cast and crew listings or just drop us an email and we'll try and fit you together like our very own crew jigsaw.

At any rate, get involved, we'd love to hear from you and see what your all working on.
